Billy

I was born and grew up in North Central Texas and enlisted on my birthday in
August 1961 at Dallas.
Following recruit training and CTT Class A school, I was attached to the
NAVSECGRUDET's at Norfolk (two tours) and Pearl Harbor. I completed 15 Cold
War Patrols on various submarines qualifying on USS TRITON (SSN 586) and
SPADEFISH (SSN 668). I was initiated as a Chief Petty Officer in 1970 and
selected for Warrant Officer in 1972. My first tour as a warrant was Subic Bay
where I flew with VQ-1 in support of the Vietnam conflict. I closed the
NAVSECGRUDET Fleet Support DET in 1974 and received orders to Pearl
Harbor where we remained until 1980. My last active duty assignment was
Executive Officer at Naval Security Group Activity Groton. I retired from active
duty in 1982. My wife Sheri and I have been married for 39 years, have three
children and four grandchildren.
