I was born in Jackson MS., and moved to AR. when I was nine years old. My schooling was in
Little Rock through the 12th grade. I was in nursing training at St. Vincent’s hospital for three
years, and received my R.N. My navy career began on Sept 10, 1955 by marrying David
Farmer, Signalman Third Class. We spent the next ten years in the fleet on the west coast.
David went to sub school in 1959 and we spent the next 7 ½ years in Key West, FL. We came
back to Little Rock on recruiting duty in 1967,
and he retired in 1970. David and I joined the Razorback base in 2001. .
I have a son, two daughters, four grand children, and five great-grand children. They all live
in this area
surrounding me.
I had not nursed till we came back home, and then I worked at St Vincent’s for 9 years, a
school nurse in the No Little Rock school system for 9 years, and the Red Cross for 61/2
years. After I retired, I am a
volunteer at Baptist Health Medical Center in N.L.R. and have been there 12 years. Every third
Saturday, I volunteer on the boat, and usher at The Rep during each play.
